Nose to the Grindstone- from the Body Language series (Acrylic on Canvas)
This is one of the 4 Body Language paintings I did based on proverbs involving the body.
Nose to the grindstone is an Australian saying and means 'working hard'.
I imagine it's an old English proverb from the days when people bent down to grind things.
It has a bit of strangeness in that the nose, head, neck and stone all have equal value.
