I
was interested in looking at Western taste both culturally and literally.
The main taste sensations are fats, salts and sugars. My favorite culturally
desirable and iconic women are Mona Lisa, Marilyn
Monroe and Madonna Ciccione.
I took photographs through a microscope of olive oil, salt and sugar and
then married them in photoshop. Mona Lisa was olive oil because she was
painted in oils during a time when oil was a major commodity. Marilyn
Monroe was sugar because of her sweetness and because she played a character
called Sugar in the "Misfits" and Madonna of course is a very
salty gal.
